How do you promote a product launch on Amazon product pages?
A shopper on your listing has already searched for the product; they are deciding between you and four other results, not deciding whether to buy at all. The video has to open on the product doing the thing it claims to do — the blade cutting, the strap adjusting, the seal closing — not the logo or a countdown. Amazon's player sits under the main image, autoplays muted, and gets a few seconds of attention before a thumb moves to the next thumbnail. Build a square or landscape cut for the listing and keep the vertical version for Stories and Reels; the same brief covers both.

Format, length and how the studio renders it
16:9 widescreen and 1:1 square both suit a gallery player, and the studio renders either as H.264 MP4 from 5 to 60 seconds. Keep the product centered and large, with margins so nothing clips when the player is small on a phone. Confirm the current upload requirements of the marketplace before you submit. The plan shows each shot and caption before you approve the render.

Second by second: opening, middle and close
Open on the product in use, not on a logo: one clean shot with the name on screen for the first two seconds. The middle, roughly seconds three to twenty, shows two or three things the product actually does, one shot each, with a short caption on every cut. Close on the product still in frame, the price or starting price, and where to buy it. Upload your own photos or footage and the cuts can land on the beat of the track you choose.

A 20-second video for our new spill-proof travel mug, launching on Amazon this week. Open on the mug being knocked sideways on a car seat with nothing spilling out. Cut to the lid twisting open one-handed, then a close-up of the seal. On-screen text: leak-tested, one-handed lid, 16 oz. No narration, captions only, since Amazon plays muted by default. End card with the product name and 'available now'. Square for the listing, vertical for Stories.
Questions people ask
What should the first second of an Amazon listing video show?
The product being used the way a buyer would use it — not the logo, not a countdown. Amazon's player autoplays muted under the main image, so the first frame has to explain the product visually before any text or sound loads. A demonstration shot outperforms a branding shot because the shopper is already comparing features.
Does the video need narration if Amazon plays it muted?
No. Amazon's product video autoplays without sound, so captions carry the message and narration is optional. If the same MP4 is reused for Instagram or TikTok, narration can be added for that version without changing the visuals or the on-screen text.
